He battled with the Dumbledore by Loneanimator He battled with the Dumbledore by Loneanimator
From Tolkien’s marvellous poem ”Errantry”. It’s supposed to be a Hobbit poem, I think, and so I’ve always imagined the reckless adventurer of the piece as a hobbit.

"Errantry" is a mock-epic poem, a light piece Tolkien did to amuse himself between bouts of more serious fare. The image of a hobbit knight-errant with absurd airy-fairy weapons fighting giant bees and mosquitoes is a fun kind of bedtime-story adventure though. :) (Smile)

Maybe he's just in a bit of the land where all things grow big, even the plants :)

Pretty close. I read that "Dumbledore" is old English for bumblebee. Still this one is a big one, whatever sort he may be.

The song has no end or beginning. Upon singing the last line, one starts again & repeats -until somebody objects to any more of it ! I loved the songs scribbled in the Red Book.
