I love this movie, and while it's a bit of a shame I am glad in the end that Lee didn't take this role. Donald Pleasance gave the right balance of crazed obsession while still seeming nebbishy enough that you could believe the authorities would ignore his warnings about the Shape. It's hard to think of people giving Christopher Lee the brushoff.
