Stuck In Bogeyland by Loneanimator Stuck In Bogeyland by Loneanimator
Laurel and Hardy are in a tight spot in 1934's "Babes In Toyland", aka "March of the Wooden Soldiers."

Despite the monkey/Mickey Mouse issue (sign of the times. At least they don't do that anymore), this is an excellent movie to watch around Christmas.

It's very rich in texture, with great sets and costumes. It just looks really good, and Stan and Ollie are as always in top form.

I have watched this film every year since I could walk, they alternated it on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Stan and Laurel are always hilarious, but you can imagine how terrifying it was with the Bogeymen!

I've seen a computer-colored version of this film, and the black & white original is way more creepy and atmospheric. What the hell is that Mickey Mouse creature??

Thats a monkey with his head encased in paper mâché...Animal Abuse!!

Someday I know they will take this off television. But my grandkids will have an ancient dvd or memory stick and we will keep this going on into the apocalypse!

I don't know what's weirder -that they have Mickey Mouse in the movie, or that it's reluctantly played by a poor monkey!

Lol Ah nice.
I haven't seen this movie in quite a while, and oddly enough I have it in my movie collection. Would come out around Thanksgiving time.

Looks like those poor guys could use some soldiers right about now! Details like that ominous bone at their feet tells me this kids movie could get a new rating. Wink/Razz

Looked them up, yes they were in the 1934 movie but there has been other remakes in 1961 and 1986. You can't get by Loneanimator, he knows his stuff.

Yep, they're in the Laurel and Hardy version. There's a big fight at the end between the bogie men and a plutoon of wood toy soldiers, so there's a bunch of these monsters in the movie.
