The Crawling Eye by Loneanimator The Crawling Eye by Loneanimator
An effective moment from this 1958 monster movie gem, also known as "The Trollenberg Terror."

It's a problem that seems to be spreading..

One might insinuate that it has been endemic for some time now - 'tis truly sad that this most unfortunate affliction has not been addressed in detail WITH MENACES (directed at the Villains and not the Victims).

I've heard of this one. Doesn't somebody rush in with an axe soon? The peeping eye is great! Clap Throw that ball into it, kid! Wink/Razz

Forrest Tucker comes in with an axe and cuts the tentacle. The girl doesn't seem concerened at all in the movie, which is kind of creepy, though probably a result of the non-acting talents of that kid.

It's the kind of movie you should see when you're a kid. It'll stay with you forever.

I think it's a textbook example of how to make a suspenseful movie.

OH very nice. I personally love this movie. The opening scene of the climbers; one of them getting their head torn off; just haunted me as a child. For me though, Forrest Tucker just stands out like he always does. It doesn't matter if he is in a 2 season comedy show about cowboys and Indians...or super intelligent abominable snowmen...or telepathic eyeball aliens. The man approached everything with care and respect.

It's a very moody and creepy movie, well written and effectively shot. Tucker was one of those ever-reliables, equally at home in comedy as well as in action or drama.

The girl doesn’t seem too concerned about her new friend... Didn’t her parents tell her not to play with alieng beings?...

The Japanese know all about girls and tentacles. I'll direct you to their expertise.

The effects are on classic Doctor Who on a bad day-level, but it's a great suspense film.

Great comparison! The effects are much like those Tom Baker episodes! He's my favorite Dr. Who...
But I still have nightmares about this movie. NEVER should have stayed up late back in the 60's to watch this on CHILLER Theater on Ch. 11 in NY. Even with Sgt. O'Rourke in there, when they pull that headless body outta the oven, I FREAKED! I did like the model airplanes napalming the creatures!
Another of your CLASSIC pieces of art!

The effects are kind of primitive, but they're enthusiastically employed. In the end I am convinced of the peril caused by the alien monsters, and the film has done it's job, and done it very well.
Glad you liked my little hommage :)
